If you are not receiving your meal periods and rest breaks or asked to perform work during your breaks and meal periods, then your employer could be taking wages from you.
You are entitled to pay for all the time you perform work for or are under the control of your employer. You should never be asked to “work off the clock” or perform additional job duties before you clock in or after you clock out.
The California Equal Pay Act prohibits an employer from paying any employees wage rates that are less than what it pays employees of the opposite sex, or of another race, or of another ethnicity for substantially similar work, when viewed as a composite of skill, effort, and responsibility, and performed under similar working conditions.
